Overview

Given the undeniable popularity of utility vehicles, the Ford Motor Company now weights its product lineup mostly on SUVs, pickup trucks, and crossovers like the 2020 Ford EcoSport. This subcompact crossover offers affordability and good interior space along with a manageable size that's ideal for navigating tight, busy streets. Trims and Powertrain

The five-passenger EcoSport is sold in four trim levels: S, SE, SES, and Titanium. The S, SE, and Titanium are front-wheel drive with their power coming from a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine with auto start-stop to maximize fuel efficiency. The higher-performance SES trim gets an intelligent four-wheel drivetrain and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which are optional for the other trims. Both versions of the engine are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Comfort and Convenience

The S kicks off with a relatively basic list of standard features: 16-inch wheels, automatic headlights, integrated blind-spot mirrors, a cargo cover, cloth seating, a rearview camera, a 60/40 fold-flat rear seat, and a one-touch driver's-side window. The SE provides LED lighting, fog lights, roof rails, rear privacy glass, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and ignition, automatic climate control, a sunroof, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. An optional Convenience Package for the SE will supply blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and ambient interior lighting. With the SES - the EcoSport's sporty variation - the contents of the Convenience Package come as standard equipment, along with 17-inch wheels, special ActiveX seating upholstery, a sport-tuned suspension, and a rear spoiler. A Black Appearance Package is available for this trim to black out the roof, spoiler, and hood decal. At the top of the heap, the Titanium trim provides perforated leather-trimmed seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, and heated side mirrors.

Safety and Technology

The S is furnished with the Ford SYNC infotainment system with a 4.2-inch central screen, a six-speaker audio system, two USB data ports, an onboard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming. The SE upgrades significantly to the Ford SYNC 3 infotainment with an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The optional Convenience Package mentioned above issues integrated navigation, a seven-speaker audio system, and a 110-volt power outlet. Those features are all standard fare on the SES, while the Titanium upgrades further to a premium 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen Play premium audio system and HD radio.
